One of the key thematic intervention areas, under PCT program, is to facilitate and mobilize the community to protect the different plant species and wildlife diversities found in administrative boundary of partner churches by fencing churches partnered with FE.
FE has been successfully implementing church fencing activities to preserve indigenous forests using different methodologies.
To this end, the program has been instigating the church fencing activities through community self-initiated plan and implementation. Accordingly, the program has been implementing church fencing activities through mutually agreed understanding and partnership with partner churches and the community.
Accordingly, with incredible engagement and contribution of the local community, 5 (five) partner churches have been fenced.
The implemented new approaches for church fencing activities were cost-effective where the contribution of the local community for fencing of some partner churches estimated at XXX % , on average, (labor and local materials)
The monetary value of the community contribution for the fenced five partner churches is estimated at ETB XXX ( USD XXX).
The land size of the fenced five partner churches ranges from XXX to hecare. The total land size of the fenced five partner churches combined is about XXX hectare.
As a result, the role of the program has been reducing and in turn, the role of partner churches and the community is increasing where they have been taking over the responsibilities and initiatives in support and coordination with the program, which lays foundation for sustainability.
